Wow this was a fun day .....
(you probably can skip this part and start reading from the underlined bold word, because there starts the fun part , this start is only ,like , daily life and suffering :D )
It started very slow and boring , like from 9 to 12:30 we had induction speeches , part one and two. Those were basically speeches about VISAs that took about an hour , clearly I don't have visa or anything like that so , i just tried not to fall asleep :D
Later they talked about work and careers , but they like didn't say anything important, or like particular about it, just that you need to go to the office called : bla bla .. and visit www.bla bla .co.uk and so on. Everybody that spoke ,just said that if u need anything then just ask or visit bla bla bla. so it was like 3hours writing down bla bla bla pages ,that I can visit , or just go to Facebook ,and search for bla bla bla... stupid...
And why didnt they just split the whole students in two parts ,like those who have and need visa and those who don't. Cuz now when I am listening to all that , everything gets mixed up , and I start to think whether I need that or not , and whether I can do it or not, is it legal or not . that's quite messed up. Actually when u look like that , it seems that the international students , are like in prison here. They have to tell everything they do to immigration office ,and they cant work and stuff ... harsh...
And then there was a police man, that was scaring the shit out of us :D , like telling how dangerous it is to leave your room open and stuff. Although he said that Hatfield is one of the safest cities in England - that's nice.
So somewhere in the middle I went to the uni restaurant and got myself a wonderful British breakfast - bacon , egg , BAKED BEANS( o I love them ) and mushrooms( just ...licking my lips .sjlp.. sjlp...) :D... O I love that food soo much , that was great and refreshing between the speaking parts(introduction talks)
Later on , I went to like my Creative arts faculty to some kind of speech there, but only thing I got was a leaflet saying that the introduction speech for CA will be on Thursday ... fail.. kinda...
Ok anyway so I had a lot of time till the evening social programme started - the quiz night and the game night...
So I went shopping ...yeeee... shopping ....
SO I finnaly bought everything for kitchen ,like mug and a dish ( ye only one :D) and a pot and saucepan .. And I bought a lot of pasta and a lot of ( as I mentioned before) canned food - BAKED BEANS :)
so after that , I took it all home ,like I am that healthy guy that only walks , and doesn't use bus , but I have to admit that after the walk I was exhausted and my shirt was all sweated , and the healthy part was just hmm... anyway I would have taken the bus , had I known that I will have to take all the heavy bags up the hill and so far ... and the pot kept like poking me in the back :(
However , as unpleasant some of the part of the day may have been , the end of the day was quite extraordinary and surprising.
About half past 7 I decided to go and check out the quiz night, because I thought It might be interesting , and I fell kinda smart :P .. Anyway , when I came to the place were the quiz night should have taken place, there were only some people ,and it didn't seemed that they were doing anything like quizzing :D . So i felt sad about that but I decided to go look what is happening at the game night :O
So at the place , there were only about 8 people, so I thought nothings gonna happen here either . but something made me stay and I am glad I did. But I guess as it was like non drinking party it was clear that there will not be a lot of people... Still I stayed..
Ok so After some 10-15 minutes ,the hall opened and the student guides that made this event were ready. So we all went inside and got some balloons and sat down in the middle of the hall. to play some games. We weren't many so we just took the time to get to know each other , like again hundreds(not really) of new names and places , that of course I cant remember , no actually I remember the places well , but the names are so exotic for me , that no way I can remember them....
Of course as usual there are some people that are like more open and more friendlier than other, like a girl from Holland called ...unpronounceable name, so she just said call me Danny ... then a girl form Dubai , called , unpronounceable name , so she just said call my Deb... then a guy from India called, unpronounceable name :D , so he just said call me Harry , well that's nice , I like that they just make up their own names :D, and another one from Sir Lanka ,but sadly I don't remember his name...
Anyway then I talked a bit with some Australian girls , but ye the talking didn't somehow continue, so I sticked to the people mentioned above ...
Ok so suddenly there came a big group of Chinese or Japanese people , that filled the room pretty nicely , and then also some more International people form Malasya ,Sir Lanka, Pakistan and all kind of Asian countries .
So finally the games started , the people were kinda slow at the begging , nobody very active. ... Somehow thought I found myself running around the inner circle of people, like we had to run in a circle wile the music is playing and when it stops you have to find a seat and if u don't then your out, so ye like me I was out quickly , cu I don't like to fight for seats :D , anyway so the 'looser'
had to go inside the chair circle and just stand there or something... Everybody were just so tight and not relaxed and the guides keeped telling that we have to dance and move ... The music was good , so I took it up and started do jumps and stuff, and started to run around the inner circle and high five everyone .... like wow , I must have looked like fool, but it felt good thought and the people cheered ... after that every game we played was more fun and everyone got really happy and moving ...
And it was just a lot of fun , really. we were divided in three groups , and I luckily was in the same room as the people that I mentioned... And then in one task we had to like pass a bundle of something ,like just wrapped in paper wile the music is playing , and when it stopped, the one person who had the bundle in his hand had to rip of some part of it to reveal a task...
Of course as you could see that coming , I was one of them ,and what did I had to do ???
well I had to DANCE!?!?!?!??! that's awful enough , but not as awful as this : I had to do BELLY dancing , like , WTF???!?!?!? ... anyway , I was happy and in good mood so I stood up , went into the center of the circle of our teams , and did some moves :D :D ye really , I cant believe I did that , and I didn't even had to be drunk to do that :) , after that everybody(ok not everybody, but more than usual :D ) knew my name and that was awesome. throughout the evening I had to do several more funny tasks , that I am not gonna mention :D . In the end though our team lost and all we won was toilet papers :O , ye cuz we used them to make like human mummies ,to wrap a person completely in toilet paper :D...
Anyway everybody was very friendly ,especially the persons I mentioned , but every other ( in my team oblivious ) knew my name, cuz those Asian people said that my name is really easy and easy to memorize :D I guess that's true , that's why I go by Oscar now...
SO the thing I really wanted to say ,is I am really glad that I sticked around at the begging when I almost went back to the pub house...
I have to say that I feel much better in non drinkers company...No ,its not because I am childish or something , its just that I believe that people when they are sober are much more genuine and truer to who they are. they are not pretending to enjoy something they are not , or pretending to bee cool and I don't know beautiful...
The people at the games night were from all around the world ,and they all felt good and wanted... They didn't a talk about racism or bulling or being cool , they just had pure fun - pure fun , not like cloudy or shady or dark noisy fun , but real fun with genuine people ,that are here for the same reason... Thats what I think fun is about ... Plus I can remember everything..
And ye I guess forget what I said about the Americans, the Indians are really what you want to meat first , ye it might be hard to understand what are they saying or , how in the hell to pronounce their names , but they are so true and they just say things and laugh and are polite , but not like faking politeness , but truly polite.... Ok now I sound like some no American dude , that's not what I meant , no offense, I like the Americans really, but they said that to me themselves , that Americans are like very strict about their personal space , and they don't like to allow anyone in- really that's what they said, they are like cautious , I guess . Of course , that depends on the person as well..
However the people from around the Indian Ocean and Arabic see were like hugging handshaking ,and they weren't shy to show their emotions ,they just laughed or shouted whenever they wanted , and the same for Asian people , they are very open. For example , yesterday at the pub ,or club a lot of Asian people were dancing and singing while almost all the white people(including me ) were standing aside and just watching :D...
Of course that's not only for the other races , the Dutch girl I mention , was very open too , like rally lovely and all. She reminded me of my classmate back at primary school , girl named Laura , she was also that person that ,kinda shined and was just always very welcome...
Ye , so here you go , a lot of stuff to read about and think about as well , I think. I really enjoyed this evening , and hope for more of them coming soon... There actually gonna be like Barn dance event tomorrow , that the girl Deb invited me to and really said that everyone should go to it . So I hope that's gonna be as much fun as today.
Ok if there are people that red all this , I thank you and congratulate you :D , today I wrote a lot :) , but I hope that it was at least a bit interesting and griping , didn't want to waste you precious time - steal it from your life. I hope I haven't done that...
P.S. Rakstu šodien angliski , jo kk vārdi paši raisījās , un biju iegājies angliski , mēģin;aju latviski , bet mēle galīgi mežģījās un prāts neklausīja :)
